For nutrition to children in Lower Primary and Anganwadi [child care program] in 2 Government Schools, in Amruthanagari, Bengaluru
UPDATE :
This was a favourite project of many donors. However, because of COVID the schools have remained closed for almost 3 months. There is no clear date in sight for their re-opening. The Untouchables had begun to supply nutritious fruit and other supplements for the anganwadi and Primary school children, but this cannot go on till schools reopen.
Hence this particular project is being shelved till schools reopen.

Update: This program is on hold till the schools reopen. We are currently into lockdown 4 which ends on May 31st.
This program has been retouched several times in the last few months since we began. It has also expanded to touch two Government Lower Primary Schools in the vicinity of The Untouchables. The first school has 150 kids [till class 8] and an ‘Anganwadi’ Section, where 40+ smaller children attend. The second school has no anganwadi but has 220+ kids till class 8. They are given seasonal fruits [and biscuits for the littler ones], and because this can disturb the pattern of classes, distribution is only on Fridays and Saturdays. The school authorities are very cooperative and encourage the children to eat rather than keep if for later or take it home, as some are want to do. The photographs show how children from the slum are transformed by education, discipline and nutrition, but not necessarily in that order.
